SUPPORT OUR WORK

Mission 89’s objective is to counter the widespread belief that the only way for young people to break out of economically precarious conditions is to accept recruitment by football academies and agents. United Nations figures in 2019 show that, due to their often hopelessly disastrous personal environments, up to over ten million children lived in forced labor conditions. These figures continue to rise.

Research Donations

Mission 89’s first step towards ending the exploitation of young athletes is to launch a series of research projects which will be among the first independent in-depth investigations into the issue. Please consider donating generously to our research projects.

This research will serve as a basis for advocacy and awareness campaigns and as a source of valuable awareness building for thousands of children and families who suffer from lack of information and funds. Our research will also help raise public awareness of child trafficking in sports through face-to-face lobbying with policymakers, sport stakeholders, and worldwide media.

Unrestricted Donations

Unrestricted donations are always desired and appreciated. Any amount received can be directed to areas of greatest need and to any non-specified project. With unrestricted funding, we are able to respond to urgent needs as they arise, allowing us to fulfill our organization’s objectives to empower, advocate, and regulate.

Work with us

Mission 89 is an independent children’s rights and sports development organization. Its aim is to mitigate child trafficking in sports through research, education, and advocacy for mandatory regulations, which aim to make sports training academies accountable for the safety and well-being of children in their care.

We believe that the issue of exploitation and trafficking of young athletes is basically an issue of human and children’s rights rather than one related to sports. We also believe that the root cause of trafficking lies in poverty and that parents and guardians often make misguided decisions as result of their social and economic circumstances. We aim to work hard to press governments, civil society and the private sector to act in the interest of the children and to work together to take proactive steps towards safeguarding young talent from exploitation.

To accomplish our mission and objectives we need to assemble a team of professional, collaborative and creative thinkers driven by a desire to protect the integrity of sport by upholding human rights principles.

Our priority area at this point in time is research. We are working hard to gather credible and reliable data in order to push for evidence-based policies that address trafficking and to develop evidence-based capacity building programs that tackle poverty – the root of the issue.

For prospective research partners and funders who would like to join us on this journey, we can provide full research proposals with detailed budgets.
